We're all going on a, summer holiday, la la la

What are the haps?

Hey folks,

It's been a quiet week around Punchboard Acres this week. I've had a week off of work to spend some time with family and friends, which means I've not been doing as much writing as I'd like.

I did, however, get to play lots of games, so here's me talking at you about them.

Them games

In the middle of the week I caught up with my oldest friends. We have a tradition that whenever there's something worth celebrating, we meet up and have a few whiskys and cigars. One of them just bought a house, and that was all the reason we needed.

Me, being me, took some games along. We played plenty of games of Klask (review coming soon), and my favourite take-anywhere party game, Anomia.

Aside from that, I used my time at home to learn some games too. Kosmos recently sent me a copy of Polis, so I played a two-handed game to learn. First impressions are great. I really like it. I'm finding myself drawn increasingly to area control and wargames.

I've been very open about my love of print and play games, and the stuff that Postmark games are producing is outstanding. Rory and Matt had a hit with Voyages, and their latest, Aquamarine is awesome too. So much so, I bought more laminating sleeves for it.

Then over the past weekend I've been playing some learning games of Shores of Tripoli. I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, despite hearing good things. Turns out, it's great. Entirely card-driven with events and actions for discarding, I'm really, really enjoying it, and I'm looking forward to playing it enough to give it a review.

Other stuff

I visited our local geeky convention over the weekend - Geekfest. Cornwall isn't exactly the most metropolitan place on Earth, but it was amazing to see it so busy, with people smiling in the sunshine, and nerds being nerds.

And finally

A review! The Quest for El Dorado, go check it out.

The Quest for El Dorado Review - Punchboardpunchboard.co.uk Reiner Knizia's deck-building, treasure-hunting race is five years old now. Is The Quest for El Dorado still worth buying in 2022? Let's see

Until next time then. Thanks for reading, and spread the word.
