This is the summary newsletter for punchboard.co.uk, mostly made up of things I've seen, games I've played, and tweets I've... tweeted.
Welcome
Hello world!
Starting off as I mean to go on, with a niche joke for anyone who's ever written code. Anyway, the purpose of this newsletter is to give some semi-regular summaries of what I've been up to, and to remind myself at the same time. It's easy to churn away at things, and forget.
So, let's get this show on the road!
UK Games Expo 2022
If you've been living under a rock, you might have missed that the world and its dog descended on the NEC in Birmingham, for the UK's biggest gaming convention. I went along, played some games, met some people, and had a thoroughly good time, as you can see here:
UK Games Expo 2022 - Show Report - Punchboard — punchboard.co.uk The UK Games Expo was held in June of 2022. I went along as a member of the press, and here's what I did, and what the experience was like
Previews aplenty
I love getting asked to do previews of games for crowdfunding campaigns. I get to play some of the best new games before lots of other folks, but more importantly, I get to give a voice to the projects I think really deserve it. There are some phenomenal games designers out there who just need a little exposure.
Here are a few from the last couple of weeks which I urge you to check out.
44 BCE Preview - Punchboard — punchboard.co.uk Beware the Ides of March, so said the Soothsayer. They weren't wrong, 44 BCE is a game of plotting, planning and conspiracy, and it's great.
Amulet of Thrayax Preview - Punchboard — punchboard.co.uk Bow before the Cat King! I mean, you could choose a different leader, but why would you? Amulet of Thrayax is madcap cultist fun in a box.
Book Of Skulls - Slayers Of Eragoth Preview - Punchboard — punchboard.co.uk Heavy metal and monsters - a match made in heaven (or hell). Book Of Skulls - Slayers of Eragoth is a new dungeon crawler you should watch.
That's all folks...
I'm keeping this first newsletter short and sweet. I still need to decide if this is a useful thing to create or not. Let me know your thoughts, and as always, thank you for your continued support.
Adam
